Safety Olympics: Go For the Gold


Come, compete, and participate in the 1st Annual Safety Olympics on Avalon Lakes Drive in Avalon Park hosted by AP Safety Center in conjunction with the YMCA. The entire street will be closed the day of the event. Team and individual events such as the Potato Sack race, relay race, egg toss, rope jumping race, and many more Adult and Kid friendly competitions…. Medals (bronze, silver and Gold) will be awarded to the winner(s) whom will hold the title throughout the year. The Winners will also be prominently displayed within our community updates and selected businesses. GO FOR THE GOLD…. AND CLAIM BRAGGING RIGHTS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR!!!!!!

WHO: Families, friends, and co-workers from ages 4 to 94.
HOW IT WORKS: Teams consist of 4 members.
WHEN: April 17th, 2010 from 9:00 am to 12 pm | Day of Event, registrants must confirm attendance by 8:45 am.
WHERE: Avalon Lakes Drive (in front of the YMCA)
FEE: FREE (if registration is received before 04/01/10 after that date $5  — submit to POA)
WHAT TO DO: Complete the form — ***REGISTER HERE**** (you can also register in person at the POA office)
WHY: 3 Great Reasons:

  1. Free food and drink!
  2. Chance to “Go For the Gold”
  3. FREE Safety services will be present like child ID and Fingerprinting

 
WAIVER: I know that participating in a race is potentially hazardous and I should not participate unless properly trained. I assume all risk associated with participating including, weather, interaction with other participants, course conditions, and relay tasks. I, for myself, and anyone else entitled to act on my behalf waive and release race organizers, sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my entry in this event. I attest that I am physically fit and sufficiently able to participate in race activities.

MANDATORY REFUSE COLLECTION
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

CHRISTMAS DAY

There will be no garbage or recycling collection service in unincorporated
Orange County on Friday, December 25. If Friday is your garbage
collection day, garbage will be collected on the following Tuesday. If Friday
is your recycling collection day, recycling will be collected on the next

Friday, January 1.
NEW YEAR’S DAY

There will be no garbage collection service in unincorporated Orange
County on Friday, January 1. If Friday is your garbage collection day,
garbage will be collected on the following Tuesday. Recycling service will
be available on New Year’s Day if that is your regularly scheduled
collection day.

CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION

You can recycle your Christmas tree by placing it curbside on your
regularly scheduled yard waste collection day. Please remove all
ornaments, decorations, nails and tree stands prior to placing your tree
curbside. If your tree is over six feet tall, please cut it in half.

– REMEMBER –

There is no collection of bulky items during a holiday week.

The Advisory Board would like to reward the best-decorated, most spirited holiday homes in Avalon Park!

2009 Avalon Park Toys for Tots Drive

The Avalon Park POA and local Avalon Park businesses will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, beginning December 8th. Please check for drop-off boxes at Avalon Park businesses and also at the Avalon Park POA offices. Participating businesses will have a Toys for Tots flyer in their window.
